Best Christmas Gifts: Creationary

Looking for a fun game for the family? They will have lots of fun
with the game Creationary. It is brought to you by the wonderful
people at LEGO who are known throughout the world for their line
of building blocks and products. Now, here is something new that
will easily capture the attention of your children, and others.

The object of the game is to build, or create, something while
everyone else tries to guess what it is. When it is your turn you
have to roll the dice. Each side of the dice is represented by a
category that you can build from. There are four categories:
buildings, nature, vehicles, or things. Whichever side the dice
rolls on is the symbol of the category that you have to build from.
For example, if your dice rolls and the symbol of a house is on
top then you have to build something from the house category.

The set also comes with a deck of cards that gives you your level
of difficulty. There are three subcategories for cards. One stack
is easy, one stack is medium and one stack is difficult. The face
of each card has subcategories on them. Each of the three categories
of easy, medium and hard are represented by an item. Once you roll
the dice you get to pick which stack of cards you want to build
from. If you decide that you want to build something simple, then
you will pick the top card from the easy stack, and look for the
house symbol. Whatever the picture is in this category is what you
have to build.

So you have rolled the dice and the house symbol came up. Then you
choose a card from the easy stack. The picture may be a teepee.
If you looked at the house symbol on a card from the difficult
stack it might have a picture of the Lincoln Memorial, just to give
you an idea of what you have to look forward to.

The rules of the game are rather simple. There is no limit to the
amount of talking that can go on and the person building is not
restricted to a specific amount of time. They can take as long as
they need to construct their item, as long as it is a reasonable
amount of time. LEGO suggests that an appropriate amount of time
for a regular game is 30 to 60 minutes.

Creationary is wonderful for developing imagination and creativity
skills. Plus, it forces you to work under some pressure, which is
definitely something that some people do better than others. The
game is designed for 3 to 8 players, ages 7 and up, but given the
complexity of some of the cards in the difficult stack, it could
easily be played by adults, as well. In fact, this would make a
great item for game night at your house. Or give all of the
stacks to your kids and see how far they can progress.

The object is to build it before the identity is guessed so
creativity is essential.

Besides the 96 cards and LEGO die, there is 1 LEGO minifigure
and 1 LEGO microfigure. There are a total of 341 pieces to
construct with and a rules book.

Creationary is a fun, challenging game, that tests your skills
as well as your patience. Try it out and see how constructive
you can be.

All the best,
Laurie
